Solutions / Asset Management & Optimisation

# From Plant Management to Market Optimisation

We manage the day-to-day power market operations, positions, imbalances and commercial performance of generation assets as one integrated service.

What we do

## Same megawatts, different revenue

Two plants of the same capacity in the same region can earn noticeably different annual revenue. The difference comes from forecast quality, which market and which hour the energy is sold in, when maintenance happens and how carefully settlement results are checked.

Frekans treats the commercial side of your plant the way an asset manager would. We decide with data how much energy to sell, in which market, at what price, and whether generating in certain hours makes economic sense.

Our goal is for every megawatt-hour you generate to reach the highest value the market offers.

Value levers

## Six decisions that create the revenue gap

Optimisation is not a single transaction but the sum of small decisions repeated all year. Each one feeds directly into the plant’s realised unit revenue.

01 Improving the capture price

Renewable output concentrates in hours when prices fall. We build the sales strategy around the hourly price profile and narrow the gap between the realised price and the average market clearing price (PTF).

02 Low and zero-price hours

When the PTF approaches zero, we calculate hour by hour the outcome of continuing or reducing generation and decide together with your commercial obligations.

03 YEKDEM or merchant

Based on price expectations, exchange rates and the plant’s profile, we compare the return of staying in YEKDEM with selling on the open market for each period.

04 Maintenance and outage planning

We place planned maintenance and outages in periods of expected low prices and reflect availability changes in the market position on time.

05 Balancing sales channels

Together we decide how much output is sold on the spot market and how much through bilateral contracts, in line with your revenue target and risk appetite.

06 YEK-G and additional revenue

We manage registration and sale of renewable energy guarantees of origin (YEK-G), creating a revenue line alongside power sales.

By asset type

## Each technology has a different optimisation priority

### Solar

Capture price

Output peaks at midday, when prices are lowest. The priority is a sales strategy built around this profile, managing low-price hours and choosing maintenance windows well.

### Wind

Forecasting and intraday trading

Wind output changes quickly through the day. The priority is frequent forecast updates, timely position adjustment on the Intraday Market and reflecting turbine availability accurately.

### Hydro

The value of water

In reservoir plants water is a storable resource. The priority is shifting output into the highest-priced hours, in line with water level and inflow expectations.

### Hybrid

Shared grid connection

Where sources share one connection point, the priority is deciding which source generates in which hour, weighing connection capacity and price together.

The Operating Loop

## Forecast → Settle

01 →

### Forecast

Building and updating the generation forecast.

02 →

### Position

Assessing the current market position and its risks.

03 →

### Trade

Executing the required market transactions.

04 →

### Monitor

Tracking actual generation and market conditions.

05 →

### Rebalance

Reassessing positions as new information arrives.

06 ↻

### Settle

Checking settlement and revenue performance.

Asset Management

## Operations

01 Generation forecast coordination

02 Final daily generation schedule (KGÜP) and market notifications

03 Day-ahead operations

04 Intraday operations

05 Imbalance management

06 Aggregation / balancing group operations

07 Bilateral contract management

09 Commercial performance reporting

Operational Outsourcing

## You don't need your own market operations team.

For plant owners and investors, we can take on all or part of the market operations function under an outsourcing model.

Investors can draw on Frekans's existing market infrastructure and experience without building a separate power market operations team in-house.

Settlement & Revenue Assurance

## Settling energy correctly matters as much as generating it.

Frekans checks the market and commercial results of the assets it manages and tracks any gap between expected and realised revenue.

What we measure

## Performance, reported in a common language

We report the same indicators for every plant on a regular basis, so the impact of optimisation, the gap between expected and realised results and areas for improvement are clear.

Realised unit revenue TL/MWh

Net revenue from all sales channels divided by generation.

Capture rate %

Realised unit price as a share of the average PTF for the same period.

Forecast accuracy %

Deviation of day-ahead and intraday forecasts from actual generation.

Unit imbalance cost TL/MWh

Imbalance and deviation charges per unit of energy generated.

Availability %

Share of time the plant is ready to generate.

Curtailment and outage loss MWh

Energy not generated due to instructions, faults or maintenance, and its revenue equivalent.

Frequently asked questions

## About asset management and optimisation

Renewable plants sell more energy in hours when output is high and prices therefore fall. This is the profile effect. Sales strategy, intraday trading and decisions in low-price hours can narrow the gap.

It depends on the plant’s profile, price and exchange rate expectations and financing structure. Before each period we compare the expected return and risk of both options and give you an assessment.

Yes. We can take on forecasting, day-ahead and intraday operations, settlement checks or reporting separately or together. Scope is set around your existing team.

Meter data, plant monitoring (SCADA) data, availability and maintenance plans and existing sales contracts are enough. Data is shared under confidentiality obligations.

We report indicators such as realised unit revenue, capture rate, forecast accuracy and imbalance cost monthly, and review results with you in periodic meetings.
